When I first began to take my gardening hobby seriously, I invested in a mini greenhouse. The mini greenhouse that I chose was very similar to a cold frame. I used it to start my vegetable seeds so that I had my own completely organically produced vegetables for my family. I wanted to grow vegetables that are difficult to find yet fun to grow. The mini greenhouse was easy to build and durable. It set directly on the ground and took great pleasure from my it. One year I decided that I wanted to have a cutting garden and my mini greenhouse was not big enough for the garden I wanted to grow. It was still in great shape so I gave it to my sister and I got myself a larger portable greenhouse.
My new larger portable greenhouse is still considered a small greenhouse. It’s just bigger than what I used to have. I have a small lot in the city. I like my new greenhouse because I can move it around seasonally. When I start my vegetable seeds in the winter, they need maximum sunlight. When I start my pansies in July, they need protection from the heat and brightness of the summer sun. I am always building new garden beds as well so I like the fact that I can move my greenhouse.
