After renovating our house two years ago into our retirement dream home we stepped back one day and realized that we had not paid as much attention to the outside as we did the inside. So the past two years we have been working diligently on getting the landscaping up to date, planting new plants and giving the place a complete outdoor overhaul. One of the things we have done is use as much of our own compost as possible and kept our compost tumbler busy year round. It has paid off and I love the fact that our yard is a result of us giving back to nature.

Another great thing we did that is different from the norm is the use of rain chains instead of gutters. We have open barrels that catch the water at the bottom of the run and have used the rain water for much of the watering that’s been done this year. I love the way the rain dances down the chain and the fact that we are conserving for our future and that of our children and grand children.
